Sam4Schools – Contractor Compliance Management System for Schools

Sam4Schools is a custom-made program that validates, maintains and keeps up to date required information from contractors for Victorians Schools.

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) has specified that Contractor Management and the establishment of an Approved Contractor Register for each School is required where contractors are engaged. Consequently, the School Principal and/or Workplace Manager needs to make sure:

• A contractor is able to undertake the work in a competent and safe manner;
• That they are licensed where required (e.g. an electrician) and possess a current Working With Children (WWC) Check Card;
• That they have a minimum $10 million public liability cover and current workers compensation insurance (if you employ staff);
• Prior to working on site that they are provided with general induction information and instructions; and
• Only Approved Contractors who are compliant with OHS requirements are to be used by Schools.

NB: A Contractor is defined as a person, organisation, their employees, their subcontractors or a nominated representative engaged to carry out work on the school premises in a contract for service arrangement. Services can be of a long or short-term nature.
